Summon is one of the basic documents of a court. Summons are commonly issued by the courts of law all around the world. Summons generally are very similar in the countries following the common law system.
Summons have a heading with the name of summon. They have the name of court issuing the summon, name of district in which such court is situated and name of judge presiding such court of law.
Summons have the title of suit containing the names of plaintiff and defendant. The name of person who is summoned is mentioned on the summon along with his address and other particulars.
The date on which such person is invited in the court of law is mentioned on the summon. The time at which such person shall appear is also mentioned on the summon.
At the end there is seal of the court along with signatures of judge on the summon. If you receive any summon from any court of law, you have to appear as mentioned on the summon. If a person do not appear in the court of law after receiving summon, proceedings can be initiated against him.
