Eighteenth Amendment has created hurdles in Labor Rights all over Pakistan

When 18th Amendment was passed in 2010 by the Parliament of Pakistan, it created many problems in the legislature of Pakistan. Similarly it has affected the labor rights badly.

With the Eighteenth Amendment Labor Ministry has been dissolved from the Federal Government along with several other ministries. In result the ministries are the subject matter of provinces. Now the problem is that the labors have rights to demand marriage allowance, death allowance and so on. It is all given from Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) and EOBI (Employees Old Age Benefits Institution).

Both these above captioned institutions are still operated by the Federal Government. In result the problem is that the labors working in Provinces are not getting their share of allowances from these institutions. Workers die and even after years their widows are not getting their due share of death allowance. On the other hand millions of rupees are lying in the banks of EOBI and WWF.

Social Sector Organizations are raising their voices in this regard. However, the matter is still not proceeded in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. If you wish to be a part of this Struggle do write to us at internationallawyerinfo@gmail.com
