PUNJAB ANIMALS SLAUGHTER CONTROL RULES, 1965

Notification No. XIII -234-SOAHII (AGR)/ 63, dated 5-3-1965.

In exercise of the powers conferred on him by sector 11 of the Punjab Animals Slaughter control act, 1963 (Act No. III of, 1963), the Governor of the West Pakistan is pleased to make the following rules, namely:-

1. These rules may be called the Punjab Animals Slaughter Controls Rules, 1965. Note: these rules continue in force in Punjab under Article 19, Province of west Pakistan (Dissolution) order (President order No. I 1970) read with Punjab Adaptation of Laws Order, 1975.

2. In these rules, the “Act” means the Punjab Animals Slaughter Control Act, 1963.

3. (1) in a slaughter house, animals shall not be slaughtered except:-
(i) During such hours as may be fixed by the local authority concerned;
(ii) If no such hours have been fixed by the local authority, during the hours from 2:00 p.m to 02:00 a.m following.

4. (1) An animal seized under the Act shall be kept at the nearest Veterinary Hospital or dispensary until such animal is disposed of under the orders of court
(2) Where an animal seized under the Act is forefeited to Government, it shall be disposed of by public auction. The feeding charges incurred by the Veterinary Hospital or Dispensary in respect of such animal shall be deducted from the sale proceeds and the balance, if any, shall be deposited in the Government Treasury.

5. Where a carcass or meat, seized under the Act, or any part of such carcass or meat, is in the opinion of the Veterinary Officer, unfit for human consumption or other use, the carcass or meat or such part shall be burnt or buried under the supervision of the Veterinary Officer or any official subordinate to him.

6. Where a carcass or meat seized under the Act or any part of such carcass or meat is in the opinion of the Veterinary Officer, fit for human consumption or other use, the carcass or meat or such part shall be sold by public auction. The sale proceeds after deducting any incidental charges incurred in connection with the transport, custody and auction shall be deposited in the Government Treasury.
